This has been something I feel strongly about but often try to ignore because I don’t know how I can help.

Many girls, not only in the US but in other countries too, don’t feel beautiful.
Everyday this image of what we should be like is surrounding us. The magazines, tv and movies all encourage these strict guidelines but other girls reinforce it. ‘Popular’ girls prove it and hormonal high school boys don’t help. Girls growing up are taught through society that if you look this way you’re not pretty. The only way to be pretty is to be unrealistically perfect.

It doesn’t matter how thin, skinny, pretty or beautiful these girls are – for some reason they FEEL hideous. They feel like they’re not good enough and that they’re not worth it. & some feel like they deserve the punishment.

These girls are beautiful, young girls who have bright futures but for some reason they’re caught up in these things that don’t matter. Girls all over the world are bulimic, anorexic and suicidal.

What can we do to help?
What would you do if you found our your daughter was suffering?

Being a college student I often encounter these girls who are looking to reach out to someone. What can I possibly say to make things better? What can I say to change their perspectives?

(I want to maybe do a blog series with this topic so anything you post will help me. Thanks!)
